Where the Kinseys were in the UK
A while back, a website was launched that graphically shows the distribution of surnames across the UK.
Moreover, NationalTrustNames.org.uk, plots the distribution for both 1998 and 1881, thus giving a historical comparison of the distribution.
In the case of the Kinsey surname, one can see pictorially the progression of the Kinseys from the Chester area of England. We also see the then migration up the Severn Valley to Montgomeryshire and Radnorshire, and finally into the Glamorganshire area.
Then when the 1881 map is compared to the data from 1998, we find that the progression of Kinseys remains very much the same as a century ago.
An added benefit to the National Trust Names website is an additional page that provides some additional statistics on each particular surname.
